Levi McCormack recently featured on 60 Minutes. His story highlights a life of challenges and hope.
Levi was the first child of Ashley and Karina. He was diagnosed with the serious heart condition Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome - which in layman's terms means that he only has half a working heart. At just five years old he has endured open-heart surgery almost every year of his life.
After featuring on 60 Minutes, Levi's health deteriorated and he was rushed to the Royal Children's Hospital for ground breaking surgery to address an associated lung condition.
Whilst Levi has come through the operation he is still recuperating in hospital after this major 7 hour procedure. The thoughts and prayers of all at HeartKids, their family and friends along with many people from around the country are with them.
The telling of their story has highlighted the prevalence and severity of childhood heart disease. HeartKids hopes that this will lead to greater support being offered to this largely unknown yet incredibly common range of conditions.
